BIOGRAPHY
Ekaterina Nikolskaya was born in 1981 in Moscow.
Artist Ekaterina Nikolskaya - master of traditional Chinese painting style Gohua, creates complex and exquisite paintings, made according to classical canons for those who are ready to fill their heart with harmony through the contemplation of beauty.
I was fond of drawing and photography since childhood. I painted a lot and constantly. I received academic art education at an art university in Moscow and graduated from the university with honors.
In the same year, I joined International Federation of Artists, the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. A regular participant of allied and independent national exhibitions and catalogues. Professionalism and constant creative growth are noted by both art historians and senior colleagues, honored artists of Russia (A.I. Beglov).
I have a great mastery of many materials: oil paint, acrylic, tempera, watercolor, markers, pencils, pastel and soft materials, liner, mascara. Having such baggage in my artistic arsenal, I can easily choose a technique for creative ideas and express my thoughts on canvas, paper or silk, depending on the task at hand. But, nevertheless, I prefer graphics, pastels and Chinese painting, which I have been studying since 2017.
Chinese painting entered my life in 2017 as a creative experiment. Studying the art of Gohua I realized that my creative space is filled with this style, completely absorbing me and bringing pleasure and satisfaction from the creation of the finest works teetering on the brink of realism and magical fairy tales.
The training of Chinese painting was led by Russian Gohua artists: Maria Maevskaya, Natalia Voronaya, Lyudmila Vedmedenko, Ekaterina Nesterova, Olga Sumarokova, Vyacheslav Sinkevich, Nikolay Mishukov. And, as well, Chinese masters of Gohua Gongbi style: Jae Ji, Li Xiaomin, Li Jae, Xing Ling, Sun Tsinlin and others.
"Both in painting and in graphics I rely on the Russian school, with interspersed European techniques (from composition to the color structure of space). With a lively interest I explore new techniques and techniques that enhance artistic expressiveness and increase the level of my skill. Over the past few years, I have studied Chinese painting and calligraphy in depth, finding unlimited inspiration in ancient art to express their creative ideas."
